Healthy tips and tricks for a relaxed flight

Follow our healthy travel tips before boarding and enjoy your cheap flight!

Travel clothesThe travel clothes: Dress well and smart. Airplane temperatures are chilly. Choose to dress in layers and always have a jacket or a sweater in your bag. Avoid tight clothes and prefer comfortable fabrics. Don’t forget to be informed about your destination’s climate. And have a change of clothes in your carry-on bag in case the temperatures are completely different. Make sure that you have your flight tickets and boarding passes with you! For overnight flights, you can always have a lightweight blanket and an inflatable pillow to keep you warm and prevent your neck and back.

Drink Liquids and avoid alcohol: The cabin pressure and the lack of humidity in the aircraft may lower your immune system. Staying hydrated will help you to avoid catching a cold or the flue. Unfortunately, drinks are not always available during flights. Drink lots of water before boarding and take an empty refillable water bottle with you. Also prefer green tea and chamomile tea instead of alcohol. Drinking herbal tea will keep you hydrated and help you to relax.

The importance of the hygiene products: When packing your travel documents and flight tickets in your carry-on luggage, don’t forget to pack a small zipper bag with the basics; a toothbrush and toothpaste, face wipes, antibacterial hand wipes and a hairbrush. Maintaining a good standard of hygiene will make you feel refreshed during the flight and it will help you to prevent bacterial and viral infections. Keep in mind that 3.4 ounces is the maximum amount of liquid you can bring on an airplane. If it’s a short flight, use the toilet before boarding on the plane.

Food on the airplaneWhat to eat when you fly: If you are on a long-haul flight, avoid foods that are hard to digest, gas-producing food like cruciferous vegetables and carbonated beverages. If you have time, eat a healthy meal before boarding and add yogurt, fruits and vegetables to your meal to boost our immune system. Remember to pack some healthy snacks in case you get hungry during the flight.

Ear ache and dry eyes: It is better to wear glasses on a plane because pressurized cabins dehydrate the air and irritate the eyes of lens wearers. If you wear contact lenses, you’d better clean them before takeoff and don’t forget to use lubricating eye drops during the flight. Protect your ears from in-flight pain: Avoid sleeping during takeoffs and landing. Yawn, swallow or chew gum during ascent and descent. Use filtered earplugs. Swallow often. Consider postpone flying in case of earache, sinus infection and nasal congestion. Prevent congestion by using a nasal spray or taking an oral decongestant before boarding. Talk to your doctor before you book your cheap flight tickets and ask him if and when it is safe to travel!
