Anne Frank House

Not every story has a happy ending, but this is a story that needs to be told, regardless of its ending. At 263 Prinsengracht Street, a young Jewish girl was hiding with her family from the Nazis for two years in a secret annex. During that period, she kept a diary that documented her everyday life under the German occupation in Amsterdam. When the hiding place was betrayed, the Frank family was deported to concentration camps. Only the father survived. Soon after the war, he published his daughters’ diary. The “Diary of a Young Girl” became the most known memoir of the Holocaust and has been published in more than 60 languages. Anne Frank House is a historic building, the place where the wartime diarist hid and wrote the famous diary. The rooms, the documents, the photographs, the memorabilia portray the hard times of the war and the importance of hope, peace and tranquility that inspired Anne.
